Our professional rescuer courses are designed for people with job-related duties in emergency preparedness and response. This includes nurses, law enforcement and EMS personnel, fire fighters, business and industry response teams, lifeguards, flight attendants, and others who must take action in emergency situations.
CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer & Healthcare Provider (HSPRO101)

Description:
The American Red Cross now offers two different certificates for this class Lifegaurds will receive the CPR/AED for Lifeguards certificate valid for one year. All other class participants will receive the CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer & Healthcare Provider certificate valid for two years. This is an advanced level of CPR training for those with a duty to respond.
This class combines information from the class manual, lecture and video with hands-on skills training to cover the following topics:
- Recognizing and responding to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, children & infants.
- Performing two-rescuer CPR
- Preventing disease transmission by using body substance isolation precautions
- Using resuscitation and bag-valve masks
- Using the AED on a victim of sudden cardiac arrest
Participants receive a book and take-home pocket mask.

CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer & Healthcare Provider Challenge (HSPRO101C)
Materials and Class Fee: $75
Prerequisites: (None) - Although there is no prerequisite for this class, it is designed for individuals who have completed this level of CPR training previously.
Description:
This condensed class first requires passing a written exam with a score of 80% or higher, and then demonstrating all skills to a level of proficiency as evaluated by the instructor and detailed in the class materials.
**Note: Students receive no video, verbal, demonstration assistance or instruction. No time for reading, practice or review is allowed during the challenge class.**
